Levulan Photo Dynamic Therapy for Clear Skin

Levulan® is an aminolevulinic acid solution (a substance found naturally within your body).  Levulan® is used to treat precancerous skin lesions known as AK lesions, mild to moderate acne and sun damage.

The service, performed by our physician assistants or nurse practitioners, takes place in two steps.  The first phase is the application of the Levulan solution, which is a photosensitizing agent.  The patient is allowed to leave for one to four hours while the solution is absorbed. The patient returns to Ageless Remedies and the Levulan is activated with the light from the ISOLAZ.

The Levulan treatment shuts down the sebaceous glands which are producing the excessive oil, exfoliates the skin to unclog the pores and  inactivates the bacteria that trigger acne.  This results in significant improvement in skin quality and in moderate to severe cystic acne.
